Rendering distance fields using the Go-language
Geplaatst door Reinder Nijhoff op 2 February 2010
Every two weeks, one of us gives a talk for the other employees here at Infi. The subject of these talks are mostly related to our work -something technical or about project management- but you are free to choose the subject you want.
Last monday I gave this talk (which we call the 'Infi Academy'). This was a good excuse for me to take some time and give two things a try that I've had on my wish list for a while:
1. The Go language introduced by Google last november.
2. The rendering of distance fields described by Iñigo Quílez in this article on his site.
PuTTY with Windows 7 jumplist support
Geplaatst door Daniel B. Roy op 29 January 2010
One of Windows 7's neater additions is the jumplist (my Mac Fanboy co-workers would actually call this a 'stolen UI idea'). This is a really handy thing for PuTTY, because it would allow you to start a saved session directly, without having to start PuTTY first and then double-clicking the session. You would then have a type of shortcut to saved sessions and as an added bonus save one valuable mouse-click in the process. Also, by pinning items in the jumplist, this offers a recent and favorite sessions functionality. Since PuTTY is open source, I decided to download the code and add this functionality myself. The resultant new version of PuTTY is downloadable below.
pwgen version 0.3 released
Geplaatst door Wietse Venema op 22 December 2009
Last week I released the first public version of pwgen. pwgen is a password generator. It generates passwords which are designed to be easily memorized by humans, while being as secure as possible. The GUI is clean and simple. If you modify one of the controls, a new password will be generated. The textfield containing the password will be automatically selected each time you generate a new password. This allows for quick tweaking and copy/paste of your random password.

A Cocoa GUI for pwgen
Geplaatst door Wietse Venema op 3 December 2009
Here at INFI we have a philosophy similar to Google’s 20 percent time. Employees are allowed to take a certain percentage of their time, during work hours, to work on anything we are passionate about. We use the time to build something new or learn about new cool technologies. Most things we learn we then share with our colleagues or on this blog. Last week, I took some time to learn Objective C 2.0 and get to know XCode and Cocoa. I created a Cocoa GUI for the popular utility pwgen.

Grass Experiment
Geplaatst door Reinder Nijhoff op 20 July 2006
This demo uses verlet integration to simulate the physics of grass.
The grass reacts to wind and the movement of the camera. Walk backwards, and watch the bending grass.
Impostors are used to render trees and grass in realtime.
Impostor experiment
Geplaatst door Reinder Nijhoff op 24 June 2006
Experiment with impostors. Impostors are used to render a forest of 50.000 trees in realtime.
